First MEININGER hotel in Spain’s capital
MEININGER Hotels continues its growth trajectory and opens its first hotel in Madrid. Through a strategic partnership with BNP Paribas Real Estate and Therus Investment, a modern hybrid hotel is being developed at Avenida del Mediterraneo 44, just 500 meters from the famous Retiro Park. The new property will span over 7,700 square meters and feature 193 rooms, 691 beds, and 15 parking spaces. The opening is scheduled for the end of 2027.

Following the planned opening of our property in Barcelona next year, this further strengthens our presence in one of Europe’s most important travel markets. The central location in the Pacífico district, just a few minutes' walk from major sights and transport hubs, provides the ideal basis for successfully implementing our hybrid concept," states Ajit Menon, CEO, MEININGER Hotels.
Attractive hotel market, diverse offerings, and central location
The Spanish capital welcomes over 10 million tourists annually and records around 25 million overnight stays. With the fifth-largest airport in Europe, a vibrant university scene, and approximately 100 international congresses and trade fairs each year, Madrid is an attractive destination for both business and leisure travelers from around the world. The strong demand for flexible accommodation options makes the city an ideal market for MEININGER’s innovative concept.
In keeping with Madrid's diverse clientele, the room layout in the new hotel has also been adapted: the focus is on quadruple rooms (90 rooms). The offering is complemented by 39 twin rooms, 40 triple rooms, 11 quintuple rooms, and 13 sextuple rooms.
The MEININGER Hotel Madrid is being developed in close proximity to Plaza Conde de Casal, Retiro Park, and the Atocha train station. Excellent public transport connections are a key advantage: the Conde de Casal metro station (Line 6) is right on the doorstep, and Madrid-Barajas Airport can be reached in about 45 minutes. Numerous bus lines provide quick connections to the historic city center. The neighborhood is characterized by a high quality of life, diverse dining options, and numerous shopping opportunities.
